President Ho Chi Minh’s 135th birth anniversary celebrated nationwide

(VOVWORLD) - Activities have been held nationwide to commemorate the 135th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh, honoring his immense legacy and expressing Vietnamese people’s gratitude for their beloved leader. Key commemorative events took place in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and President Ho Chi Minh’s home province of Nghe An.

The 2025 Sen Village Festival, held nationwide from May 15 to May 19, was a highlight of the celebrations. Centered in Vinh city and Nam Dan district, Nghe An province, the festival featured a variety of cultural and artistic activities. The centerpiece was a large-scale performance called "Monument in Millions of Hearts," which combined singing, dancing, folk music, and dramatizations.

Other notable events included the inauguration of a statue depicting Uncle Ho visiting his hometown, the unveiling of a nine-storey tower next to the tomb of Uncle Ho’s mother, Hoang Thi Loan, a film week dedicated Ho Chi Minh, and a running event called “Journey in Uncle Ho’s footsteps – for the security of the Fatherland”.

In Hanoi, the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace organized an exhibition called “President Ho Chi Minh – National Quintessence, Era’s Stature” and a display of 135 documentary photos of Uncle Ho at the Presidential Palace from 1954 to 1969. To mark the occasion, a book titled “135 Years of Stories about Uncle Ho” and a book gallery showcasing books about President Ho Chi Minh were launched. Additionally, a program for students was launched, offering young people a chance to engage with President Ho Chi Minh’s life and legacy.

Pham My An, a student at Ly Thai To High School, said: “The program gave me the opportunity to I learn about President Ho Chi Minh's journey of national salvation and his lifelong devotion to national reunification.”

At the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Hanoi, an exhibition called “Simple but Noble Examples” is running until August.

Director of the museum Dr. Vu Manh Ha said: “Held annually since 2013, the exhibition promotes President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality, and style through more than 200 images, documents, and artifacts.”

In Ho Chi Minh City, a large-scale exhibition highlights President Ho Chi Minh as a great national hero, a shining crystallization of the morality, wisdom, spirit, and conscience of the Vietnamese people and the era. Spanning Nguyen Hue walking street, Dong Khoi street, and Chi Lang Park, the thematic displays included “The Life of President Ho Chi Minh: From Childhood to the Journey to Save the Nation”, “The Beloved South Always in His Heart,” and “President Ho Chi Minh – A Model of Self-Study and Lifelong Learning.”

In Vietnam and abroad, Vietnamese people commemorated with great reverence President Ho Chi Minh, whose legacy lives on in their hearts and minds and continues to guide Vietnam on its path forward.
