(VOVWORLD) - Through the implementation of the campaign “Each organization, each individual is associated with a humanitarian address”, the Red Cross Society at all levels in Da Nang City has made significant contributions to supporting disadvantaged communities.

The Society has built five houses, repaired five others, supported livelihoods, provided scholarships and vocational training, distributed monthly allowances and rice, and organized numerous practical activities for poor and underprivileged households. Donations totaling $400,000 have helped over 2,500 households.
Nguyen Thanh Long and his family of five previously lived in a severely deteriorated 30-square-meter house in Hoa Khe Ward, Thanh Khe District. Thanks to financial support from the Central Power Corporation, Long’s family now resides in a new, spacious home. Long expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the donors and the Red Cross Society for providing his family with a solid, concrete house.
The family of Ngo Duy Phuong in Hoa Son Commune, Hoa Vang District, is another beneficiary. Phuong suffers from kidney failure, while his mother is in the terminal stage of cancer. Due to their poor health and inability to do hard work, his family has received support from the city’s Red Cross Society for the past six years to cover medical and living expenses. In mid-December, Phuong’s family was added to the list of humanitarian addresses in Hoa Vang District, ensuring continued support from the Red Cross Society.
Over the past 15 years, the campaign “Each organization, each individual is associated with a humanitarian address” has gained widespread support from Party Committees, organizations, and individuals in Da Nang City. This campaign has yielded tangible results, fostering a culture of mutual support and compassion.
The People’s Committee of Da Nang City has issued a plan to continue the campaign through the 2024-2028 period. The Red Cross Society plans to provide ongoing scholarships to underprivileged students, support the Center for the Disabled and the Elderly, and care for orphans. In 2024 alone, the Society raised nearly $80,000 to assist 75 orphans and children with disabilities.
The Red Cross Society at all levels continues to play a pivotal role in coordinating humanitarian efforts, helping disadvantaged individuals rise above their circumstances. Their work inspires solidarity and mutual love, enabling the movement “Good people, good deeds – Joining hands to build a compassionate community” to grow and thrive.
