14th Party Central Committee holds its first meeting

(VOVWORLD) - The 14th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam is holding its first meeting in Hanoi on Friday morning. In the afternoon, the 14th National Party Congress will hold its closing session.

According to Decision No. 190-QD/TW dated October 10, 2024, of the Party Central Committee on the promulgation of the Regulations on Elections within the Party, the election of the Politburo, the General Secretary, the Secretariat, the Inspection Commission, and the Head of the Inspection Commission is conducted at the first meeting of the Party Central Committee.

Earlier on Thursday afternoon, the 14th National Party Congress elected the 14th Party Central Committee, which consists of 200 members, including 180 official members and 20 alternate members.

General Secretary To Lam and 9 members of the 13th Politburo were re-elected as members of the 14th Party Central Committee for the 2026-2031 tenure.

They include National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Tran Cam Tu, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Head of the Party Central Committee's Organization Commission Le Minh Hung, Minister of National Defense General Phan Van Giang, and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang.
