At a European Union meeting in Brussels on Thursday, Rasmussen said the discussions went very well in an extremely constructive atmosphere, and further meetings are planned.
However, the same day, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen rejected US President Donald Trump’s claim that Washington had reached a framework agreement with NATO regarding Greenland. In an interview with the France 2 television channel, she said, “That is not an agreement.”
The Danish leader said national sovereignty and the right of people to self-determination must be fully respected, and warned that any move to militarize Greenland would run counter to international principles upheld since the end of World War II.
