PM pushes accelerated implementation of key transport projects

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Friday ordered priority to be given to expressway projects in the Mekong Delta, the northern mountainous regions, the Central Highlands, and routes linking Vietnam with China, Laos, and Cambodia.

Speaking at a meeting of the State Steering Committee for key transport projects, the PM urged ministries, sectors, and localities to proactively implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, ensuring progress, quality, and strict compliance with technical standards.

He said 600 kilometers of expressways in the Mekong Delta must be completed by the end of 2026, with another 600 kilometers added by 2030, contributing to the national target of at least 5,000 kilometers of expressways by 2030.

The PM also called for faster construction and expansion of several airports, including Long Thanh, Ca Mau, and Quang Tri.
