(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s tourism sector needs a strong push toward sustainable growth to meet this year’s targets of 25 million international visitors and 150 million domestic tourists, contributing to double-digit GDP growth in the coming years.

Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh made the remarks while chairing a meeting of the State Steering Committee for Tourism in Hanoi on Tuesday.
Participants proposed measures to attract visitors, especially foreign tourists, including improving infrastructure and human resources, boosting digital transformation, ensuring safety and security, strengthening tourism promotion, and improving data connectivity.
Deputy PM Chinh, also Head of the Steering Committee, asked for a shift from a recovery mindset to one focused on competitive and sustainable growth, with breakthrough solutions. This approach includes improving policies, removing bottlenecks, mobilizing resources for infrastructure investment, accelerating digital infrastructure and transformation, and raising the quality of human resources , he said.
The Steering Committee must work closely with ministries, sectors and local authorities to promote the overall development of the tourism economy, the Deputy PM noted.
