All four support Ukraine’s immediate candidacy for accession, French President Emmanuel Macron told a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, and Romanian President Klaus Iohannis. Macron promised to send more weapons to Ukraine.

During their first visit to Ukraine since the Ukraine-Russia conflict began February, the four leaders discussed further sanctions against Russia and postwar reconstruction.

Russia's chief negotiator said on Thursday that Moscow is ready to restart peace talks with Ukraine, but has yet to receive a response to its latest proposals.
