Hanoi festival celebrates 18th century victory of national hero Quang Trung
(VOVWORLD) -1,500 people on Saturday joined a festival commemorating the 237th anniversary of the Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da Victory and the great contributions of the national hero Quang Trung and his Tay Son army, who bravely fought against foreign invaders to safeguard the nation’s independence.

The festival was held on the 5th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Horse at the Dong Da Hill National Special Monument in Hanoi’s Dong Da Ward, a place for educating profound patriotic traditions and igniting national pride in every Vietnamese person during the Lunar New Year.
Following the ceremonial part, the epic artistic performance by the Vietnam National Traditional Theater, recreated the image of the Tay Son fighters under the command of national hero Quang Trung, who swiftly and unexpectedly attacked Thang Long citadel, now Hanoi, defeating over 290,000 Qing troops and bringing a glorious victory to the nation.
The program consisted of two parts: Epic of the Victory of Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da 1789 and Spring of Aspiration for Growth.
