Fishermen are not only hoping for a bountiful catch but are also reinforcing their commitment to regulations against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, supporting more sustainable fisheries.

At Hon Ro fishing port, crews are refueling and checking their nets, navigation tools, and communication equipment. The vessel monitoring system (VMS) is inspected before every departure to ensure compliance with regulations and to trace catches.

Authorities maintain a 24/7 presence at the port, reviewing documents, licenses, and equipment before granting clearance. This close coordination ensures that every vessel meets legal requirements from the moment it leaves port.

All 5,200 fishing vessels in Khanh Hoa are registered and licensed, with 1,500 vessels measuring 15 meters or longer equipped with VMS tracking devices.
