(VOVWORLD) - As the 14th National Party Congress gets under way, officials, Party members, and citizens in Can Tho expect the Congress to deliver strategic decisions and coordinated investment in transportation, healthcare and education that will help the Mekong Delta achieve a strong breakthrough and sustainable growth.
Phan Van Tan Tai of Can Tho said the two-tier government set up following the administrative merger has boosted confidence among local officials, Party members, and citizens.
"We hope that new policies will be effectively implemented in people’s daily lives, with greater attention paid to education and healthcare, especially health insurance, so that all people can participate. We need to have health insurance policies that are suited to real-life conditions," said Phan Van Tan Tai.
During the past term, the Party and State invested more than 22.8 billion USD in transportation infrastructure in the Mekong Delta. A series of major expressway projects have been implemented and put into operation, facilitating traffic flow and goods trade.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan of Can Tho city said: "The development of roads, schools, and healthcare facilities to ensure better living standards is what we earnestly hope for. Greater attention should be paid to ensuring adequate transportation, education, and medical infrastructure to support overall economic development and improve people’s lives."
Mr. Nguyen Quang Thao, a local in Can Tho city, said: "Greater focus is needed on transportation infrastructure, including roads, waterways, and aviation. Investment should be closely linked to education and training. Public healthcare and medical services are also of vital importance. This requires improving medical ethics, professional skills, and facilities to enhance the quality of diagnosis and treatment."
People in Can Tho city hope the decisions adopted at the 14th National Party Congress will be realistic and will maximize the effectiveness of investment in transportation, healthcare and education infrastructure. Those things are seen as a foundation for the Mekong Delta’s rapid, sustainable development in the coming period.
