PM calls for fast-track rail projects, sets clear roadmap for North–South high-speed railway
(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has assigned relevant agencies specific tasks to accelerate progress of the Lao Cai–Hanoi–Hai Phong railway, stressing proactive capital mobilization and annual savings of 5% in recurrent spending for the project.

At a meeting on key railway projects on Saturday, he also requested the urgent completion of planning for the Hanoi–Lang Son and Hai Phong–Mong Cai railways, with a century-long vision.
The Prime Minister demanded that a feasibility study for the North–South high-speed railway be completed no later than the fourth quarter of 2026. Regarding funding, he called for continued research into a mix of state capital, loans, expenditure savings, increased revenues, and bond issuance.
