Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said at a press conference on Saturday that Cairo is reviewing President Trump’s invitation to President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. He did not specify when Egypt would respond to the offer.
On the same day, Turkish state media reported that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğa had received the invitation from Trump a day earlier to “become a founding member” of the board. The report did not say whether Erdoğan has accepted the invitation.
Egypt and Turkey are among the regional countries that have played an active role in promoting negotiations to end the Gaza conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Regional analysts say the participation of the two countries would be crucial in ensuring the success of efforts to maintain a ceasefire and support Gaza’s post-conflict reconstruction.
