Vietnam ready to work closely with ASEAN partners to advance Five-Point Consensus on Myanmar
(VOVWORLD) - Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung highlighted ASEAN’s efforts in advancing implementation of the Five-Point Consensus (5PC) on Myanmar, stressing that Vietnam stands ready to closely coordinate with the Philippines as ASEAN Chair and with other member states to further promote the consensus in light of recent developments in Myanmar.

He made the remarks at an expanded informal consultation on the 5PC held Wednesday on the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat in Cebu, the Philippines.
At the consultation, ASEAN foreign ministers shared assessments of the situation in Myanmar, including the recent election, and reaffirmed that the Five-Point Consensus remains ASEAN’s primary guiding framework for supporting Myanmar in addressing the current situation.
The same day, Foreign Minister Trung met with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, Philippine Foreign Minister Maria Theresa Lazaro, Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow, and Brunei’s Second Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato Erywan Pehin Yusof.
