During a meeting with Amandeep Singh Gill, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Special Envoy on Technology to the UN Secretary-General in Hanoi on Friday, Deputy Minister Giang proposed that the UN create favorable conditions for Vietnam’s deeper participation in UN mechanisms on research, policy advisory and artificial intelligence (AI) governance.

The UN official welcomed Vietnam’s participation in the AI Capacity-Building Network and its proposal to host a regional AI center under UN auspices.

Both sides agreed to step up cooperation in promoting global technology governance initiatives, as well as enhancing cooperation between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the UN in science, technology and artificial intelligence.
