(VOV) - The International Seaports Festival will take place in Vung Tau city from May 17-19 with the theme "Vietnam - Commercial port for peace and development". The festival will feature many programs including a welcoming Carnival, an exhibition of seaports and shipping companies, foreign and Vietnamese logistics, a goods fair, a friendship golf tournament to raise funds for the program “For beloved Spratly Island", an opening ceremony, a performance of "Light garden", conventions and forums, a music concert called "Hello Vietnam sea"; and a gala dinner and closing ceremony called "Colors of the Vietnam sea".

The event has importance for Vietnam’s political, economic and social life, and implements a plan for developing Vietnamese seaports to 2020. The festival also aims to raise people’s awareness of Vietnamese sovereignty.
