(VOVworld) – Teacher Nguyen Thi Hien of primary school 1, Son Hai commune, Lao Cai province, is known as a devoted teacher and active participant in charitable work. She is now the head of a voluntary club called “Bowl of porridge with love”. Hien has been recognized as a role model in the campaign to study and follow the moral example of President Ho Chi Minh.

Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, poor patients at the general hospital of Bao Thang district, Lao Cai province, are served bowls of porridge made by Nguyen Thi Hien and other members of the “Bowl of porridge with love” club.

Hien says she wanted to share and help disadvantaged people through charitable work.: “I have taught in remote areas for 10 years and met many pupils in difficult circumstances. I often cook lunch for them. One day I looked after my brother at the hospital and saw a program of charitable meals there. This gave me the idea of cooking porridge for poor patients”.

After operating for 2 years with the support of others, the club has expanded its activities and now provides free bowls of porridge at the general hospital of Bac Ha district. The club also has organized other activities to help poor pupils and patients. Nguyen Thi Hien always does her best to help disadvantaged people. Ngo Thi Truong is a member of the “Bowl of porridge with love” club: “Hien is very active and enthusiastic. She has contacted philanthropists to get them involved in the charitable work. Hien has actively implemented charitable programs in remote and mountainous areas. Our club has brought clothes, blankets, and food to poor people”.

Nguyen Thi Hien is admired and respected by other members in the club for her wholeheartedness for charitable work. Ms. Vu Thi Minh Anh is Deputy Head of the club: “Hien is not rich, but she is always ready to share with others. She is wholehearted for charitable work. She is very patient with the children and the elderly, which makes her admired by others”.

As a teacher in a mountainous area, Nguyen Thi Hien encourages local ethnic minority people to work hard and advises them not to follow the incitement of bad people. Ms. Hien said: “I learned from President Ho Chi Minh an immense love for people. I help other people with all my heart. It makes me feel I’m a helpful person”.
