A letter we received this week from a family of 5 with 3 children who really love shortwave radio. We enjoyed very much their very nice postcards and especially a photo of their family showing the parents with their 3 lovely kids.

A: We’d like to begin this week’s Letter Box with a letter from American listener James Camili. James said that he sent us a reception report a while ago but he did not get a verification card.

A: Summer has arrived suddenly here in Hanoi where we are having lots of sunshine with temperatures above 32 Degrees Celsius. This week we received warm greetings from springlike Stockholm from Malin Mutka who recently resumed her shortwave hobby after a long break of over 20 years.

A. One week passed so quickly and here we are again with letters and emails from listeners around the world. Let’s start today’s Letter Box with a beautiful postcard from Robert Krolikowski, who lives in New York.

A: We’d like to begin this week’s Letter Box with a letter from Japanese listener Fumito Hokamura, who, in his letter to us on March 4th, said he’s very interested in the weather and spring time in Hanoi. Dear Fumito, we are having wonderful weather in Hanoi at the moment with intervals of sunshine and clouds, cool breezes, and temperatures around 24 DC.

A. April has brought us bright sunshine that lasts all day. It feels great to be with you again here on Radio the Voice of Vietnam after our long holiday commemorating the death anniversary of the Hung Kings – the founders of the Vietnamese nation. This year’s celebration fell on Monday, which is the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month.

As we expected last week, the uncomfortable humidity has finally gone, giving way to sunshine and fine weather. For the first time in years, Vietnam’s northern region is experiencing such beautiful Spring weather in March. It’s almost like the middle of autumn. The blue sky is clear and temperatures range between 19 and 22 degrees Celsius.

For the first time in many years, we’ve heard from a listener in the United Arab Emirates. In a 5-page email dated March 15, Dr. Avinash Cheekoth wrote

We’re receiving an increasing number of letters from Japanese listeners one year after Japan was hit by a disastrous earth quake and tsunami. It seems life has gradually returned to normal there and our Japanese Dx’ers have been able to resume their hobby.
