I hope this edition of the Letter Box finds you well. We devote the first part of the Letter Box to acknowledging letters from Indian Dx’ers.

Last week, we received dozens of letters and emails but the one from William Patalon III from the USA impressed us the most. We must say that he’s already made a record having the thickest letter, about 20 pages altogether.

This week, we received 4 letters from Fumito Hokamura of Japan, one of our most regular pen-pals. He said he is very interested in Vietnam and he listens to VOV to learn more about the country’s culture, folk songs, and cuisine, etc…

Among the letters and emails we received during the week, we’d like to begin with Rattan Kumar Paul, a teacher and co-coordinator of the South Asia Cri DXer Forum in India.

A: Starting off this week’s Letter Box edition, I’d like to say Hello to Adeel Butt of Pakistan, who was in Hanoi and visited our office some weeks ago. We mentioned your visit in our Letter Box on August 15. You can read or listen to the audio version on our website at vovworld.vn. There is also a picture of you with our staff.

This week, we’d like to begin with a frequent listener to the English program, Fumito Hokamura of Japan. In every letter, Fumito poses many questions about Vietnam that he says will help him understand our nation. We’re very grateful to Fumito as he makes us understand that what we are doing every day helps listeners like him know and appreciate Vietnam better.

A: Another week has gone by and we’re happy once again to be with you on our Wednesday Letter Box to answer all the emails and letters received this week. Let’s start with an email from a Pakistani listener.

A: From Kolkata, India, our regular listener Sanjib Biswas sent us a letter instead of emailing us as he usually does. In a letter dated July 12, he reported listening to our July 11 broadcast with crystal clear reception. B: Sanjib said: “the News, Current Affairs, Letter Box, Sunday Show, and Music Show, are my favorite programs. VOV is a big source for me of news and information about the rich culture and customs of Vietnam. I would like to know the names of some famous National Biospheres in Vietnam”

This week, we‘d like to begin with Fumito Hokamura of Japan, who has frequently sent us letters showing his devotion to our programs. Also he has asked a lot of questions about Vietnam, which he says he loves and plans to visit in the future.
