[VOVWORLD] - The “Returning to the Sacred Moment” virtual reality program opened on Wednesday at the Independence Palace in Ho Chi Minh City. Using virtual reality, visitors are transported back to Hanoi's Ba Dinh Square on September 2, 1945, standing among the crowd as President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence.

The program is directed by the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and jointly organized by VOV's VTC News and the Institute of Information and Communications Technology (CDIT) under the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology. It marks the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution, August 19, National Day, September 2, and the 50th anniversary of the renaming of Saigon-Gia Dinh as Ho Chi Minh City.

Colonel Tu Cang, a 99-year-old Hero of the People's Armed Forces, expressed joy after seeing a virtual reality recreation of President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence. “I’m very happy. I’m impressed that you have managed to recreate these scenes in virtual reality, making the historical moment so vivid. I was 17 when this event took place. At that time, I only had a sharpened bamboo stick, not guns or anything like that. But at that moment, President Ho Chi Minh said this was a once-in-a-thousand-years opportunity, and we must gain independence,” Mr. Cang said.
