President Xi emphasized that China is committed to developing sustainable relations with the United States. He said he and President Trump had agreed on a new framework for building “a constructive strategic stable relationship between China and the United States,” which would provide strategic direction for bilateral ties over the next three years and beyond.

On bilateral economic and trade cooperation, President Xi said that the essence of China-US economic relations is mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. When disagreements and friction arise, he said, equal consultation is the only correct choice.

During the talks, the two leaders exchanged views on major global and regional issues, including the situation in the Middle East, the Ukraine crisis, and the Korean Peninsula.

Both sides agreed to support each other in successfully hosting this year’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit and the G20 Summit.

Earlier, in his opening public remarks before the meeting, President Xi expressed his hope that he and President Trump would jointly steer China-US relations forward, making 2026 a historic and milestone year in bilateral ties.
