The ceremony, hosted by the Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Republic, was attended by Czech National Assembly Speaker Tomio Okamura, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlicek, ambassadors and diplomatic representatives, as well as representatives of Vietnamese organizations and associations in the Czech Republic.
Speaking on behalf of the Czech government, Prime Minister Andrej Babis extended his warmest congratulations to Vietnam’s leaders and people.
He described Vietnam as the Czech Republic’s most important trading partner in Southeast Asia, noting that Czech and Vietnamese businesses are cooperating in industries including manufacturing, energy, transport, aviation and advanced technologies.
The Czech government is also working toward establishing a legal framework for recruiting workers in sectors facing labor shortages, the Prime Minister said.
PM Babis expressed hope that a direct air route between Prague and Hanoi could soon be established, describing it as a powerful symbol of the increasingly close ties between the two countries and a step toward elevating their partnership to a new level.
He also praised the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic for its deep integration into Czech society, saying it is a testament to a community that works hard, runs businesses, pursues education and preserves its cultural traditions.
As part of the celebrations, the Vietnamese Embassy, in cooperation with the Ho Chi Minh Presidential Relic Site at the Presidential Palace, organized an exhibition titled “President Ho Chi Minh – A Journey of Connecting and Spreading the Spirit of International Solidarity.”
The exhibition features 150 archival photographs documenting President Ho Chi Minh’s life and career, as well as Vietnam’s foreign relations in the contemporary period.
The cultural diplomacy event commemorates Vietnam’s 81st National Day and looks ahead to the anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s 1957 visit to Czechoslovakia, while highlighting important milestones in Vietnam-Czech relations.
