The Vietnamese top leader was addressing at a ceremony marking Vietnam’s 81st National Day in Hanoi on Friday, which was attended by former Party and State leaders, revolutionary veterans, Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces and Labour Heroes, prominent intellectuals, religious dignitaries, representatives of ethnic minority communities, and heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations in Hanoi.
Mr. Lam underscored the historic significance of September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh proclaimed the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
He said the Vietnamese people have a deeper appreciation than ever for the values of independence and freedom and forever show gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh and generations of revolutionary leaders, heroes and martyrs who fought and sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence, sovereignty, national reunification and territorial integrity.
Following the eras of independence, national reunification and renewal, the 14th National Party Congress marked Vietnam’s entry into a new era of development, with the goal of building a strong, prosperous and wealthy nation, General Secretary and State President To Lam said.
He stressed that, in this new era, Vietnam highly values the support, partnership and close cooperation of friends, partners, businesses and foreign investors.
Vietnam is also ready to join hands with the international community in addressing global challenges and contributing to peace, prosperity and development worldwide.
He said: “We need to work together to address global challenges and ensure that the science and technology revolution becomes a positive force serving humanity’s development. ‘Together,’ we can overcome every challenge. ‘Together,’ we can build a peaceful, stable and sustainable world. Vietnam is ready to serve as a bridge for cooperation and dialogue and to make increasingly practical contributions to addressing issues of common concern to the international community."
"We support an equal and fair multilateral system with the UN at its center. For us, this is not only an affirmation of Vietnam’s responsibility, but also an expression of profound gratitude for the sincere support and assistance that friends and people around the world have given Vietnam throughout more than eight decades of national construction and defense,” the Vietnamese top leader stressed.
Delivering the diplomatic corps’ congratulations, Ambassador of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay to Vietnam Raul Pollak Giampietro said that, inheriting the thoughts and spirit of President Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam has overcome countless difficulties and challenges over the past 81 years.
He said Vietnam has emerged as a prosperous and dynamic country, asserting its rightful position on the international stage, while continuously strengthening ties with the international community and demonstrating that it is a reliable partner and a sincere friend.
