On the second day of the festival, durians will be loaded on 500 pickup trucks to compete for Guinness World Record's longest parade of pick-up trucks carrying durians. The initiative and 16 other activities at the festival are expected to make Dak Lak's durians become more well-known internationally and to attract 300,000 visitors.
Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Dao My is head of the festival's organizing committee. He said: "We want Dak Lak to come up first whenever customers, whether at home or abroad, think of durian. We also hope to garner support from the business community and entrepreneurs through this Durian Festival and its many activities. To be considered a success, this festival must contribute to promoting Dak Lak's durian brand, expanding our export markets, and increasing the value of our durians."
During the festival, there will be an exhibition of 400 booths on durians and OCOP-certified products, a culinary event featuring 102 durian-based dishes, among other activities.
