The session clarified Vietnam's needs for international cooperation in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, identified opportunities and priority partners, and discussed solutions to bolster the role of the diplomatic sector and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad.
Prof. Dr. Tran Hong Thai, President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, told the event: “To fulfill science diplomacy mission, Vietnam must build, connect, and promote international scientific networks, thereby fostering scientific exchanges between Vietnam and international partners. This will allow us to work together in science and address challenges to Vietnam's development.”
Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang, who is deputy head of the Central Steering Committee for the Development of Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation, said: "It is essential to leverage the core advisory role and decisively shift science and technology diplomacy from merely networking to actively fostering development; from signing agreements to implementing them; and from mobilizing external resources to building endogenous capacity."
"This approach aims to establish an effective channel for attracting knowledge, technology, and expertise, thereby enabling Vietnam to participate more deeply in high-value-added segments of the global value chain," he added.
