At the 33rd Diplomatic Conference in Hanoi on Tuesday, ambassadors and heads of overseas missions agreed that diplomatic missions should move beyond reporting developments to providing strategic forecasts and policy recommendations.
They also stressed the need to strengthen interdisciplinary research and enhance coordination with domestic agencies, businesses, research institutes, universities, experts, and overseas Vietnamese communities to better support Vietnam's foreign policy and national development goals.
In his closing remarks, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung urged Vietnam's overseas missions to strengthen their roles as strategic advisers, connectors, and policy architects by proactively identifying emerging trends, anticipating challenges, and recommending policies at an early stage.
He also called for greater efforts to mobilize international resources to support national development and safeguard Vietnam's interests.
Looking ahead, the Vietnamese Foreign Minister said economic diplomacy will remain a top priority in pursuit of double-digit economic growth, alongside stronger science and technology, innovation and digital transformation diplomacy, multilateral and cultural diplomacy, consular services, citizen protection, and engagement with overseas Vietnamese communities.
