As of August, Dong Nai city had allocated over 21 million USD for school construction projects in border areas, according to the city’s Department of Education and Training. 7 school facilities have been completed and are ready to welcome students.
Duong Van Thang, Vice Principal of Loc An Primary and Secondary School in Tan Tien commune said: "The school is currently equipping the dining hall and dormitory with essential facilities. The dining hall has already been furnished with a kitchen, tables, and other necessary equipment to serve the students."
The introduction of day-boarding programs at border-area schools has significantly eased the burden on local families.
Previously, long distances between home and school made the daily travel challenging for parents and children.
Allowing students to stay at school for lunch will let parents focus on their livelihood. Dieu Ly, a resident of Dak A village in Bu Gia Map commune said: "The school now offers a convenient day-boarding program which allows parents to pick up their children in the afternoon. The care and support provided by the Party, the State, and the school are a great help to parents who live in remote areas."
The 8 border communes—Loc Thanh, Loc Tan, Loc Thanh, Tan Tien, Thien Hung, Hung Phuoc, Dac O, and Bu Gia Map—cover an area of 1,343 square kilometers and have a combined population of 145,700 people, 28% of whom are ethnic minority people.
