Prime Minister Hung met with Sergey Kudryashov, CEO of the Russian state-owned oil and gas company Zarubezhneft as part of the ASEAN-Russia 35th Commemorative Summit in Kazan, Russia.

The Prime Minister said he supports Zarubezhneft's continued research, expansion of investment activities, and signing of new oil and gas contracts for open blocks on the Vietnamese continental shelf, based on the principle of ensuring investment efficiency, harmonizing interests among relevant parties, complying with Vietnamese laws, and exploring the possibility of strengthening cooperation in third countries.

He requested Petrovietnam and Zarubezhneft to effectively implement the Protocols amending the Intergovernmental Agreement on Vietsovpetro and Rusvietpetro, as well as the Intergovernmental Agreement on expanding the area of ​​geological exploration and oil and gas exploitation on the Vietnamese continental shelf and in Russian territory.

The Prime Minister also urged Zarubezhneft to strengthen the activities of the Rusvietpetro Joint Venture in Russia, including expanding the exploitation area and acquiring new oil and gas fields and potential blocks adjacent to the Nenetsky area.

On Wednesday, receiving the Director General of State Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom), Alexey Likhachev, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung said cooperation with Russia and the implementation of the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant I project are Vietnam’s top priory.

He called on Rosatom and the Russian side to continue supporting the extension of the operation of the Da Lat reactor during the transitional period, support the Nuclear Science and Technology Center project operation in Dong Nai, strengthen cooperation in human resource training; increase the localization of equipment, optimize investment costs, and coordinate closely to promptly address any obstacles in the implementation of projects.
