During the meeting, General Secretary and President Lam said that over the more than 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the Vietnam-New Zealand relationship has seen strong, comprehensive development and is deepening. Vietnam plans to establish a Vietnam-New Zealand Friendship Association to partner with the New Zealand-Vietnam Friendship Association, thereby enhancing connectivity and exchanges, and contributing to making the friendship between the two peoples increasingly profound and substantive, he added.
Noting the immense potential for cooperation between the two nations, the Party and State leader expressed his hope that the Association will continue to serve as a bridge and actively contribute to fostering bilateral relations. He urged for a focus on education and training while also promoting cooperation in science and technology, climate change response, the economy, and green and clean agriculture. Mr. Lam expressed his hope that the Association will continue to pay attention to and support the Vietnamese community in New Zealand.
For his part, Mr. Joyce said he personally and the New Zealand-Vietnam Friendship Association stand ready to continue supporting the Vietnamese community in New Zealand, upholding their role as a bridge, and making even more practical contributions to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
