Many events are being brought to outlying communes to make the celebrations accessible to local residents.
On August 31, the Thang Long Song and Dance Theatre, Hanoi Circus and Arts Theatre, Hanoi Cai Luong Theatre and Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre will stage performances in Dan Phuong, Minh Chau, Bat Trang and Dai Xuyen communes.
On September 1 and 2, the Hanoi Cheo Theatre will present large-scale performances at Ba Kieu Temple flower garden in Hoan Kiem ward.
On National Day, September 2, major artistic programmes will take place at My Dinh Stadium Square, Thong Nhat Park and Lac Long Quan Flower Garden.
Nguyen Thi Mai Huong, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: “Hanoi is organising 70 film screenings, including around 50 mobile screenings in outlying communes and 20 screenings at Kim Dong Cinema. The city is also setting up four exhibition spaces showcasing images of the country, books and newspapers, creative products from traditional craft villages, and contemporary handicrafts. Historical and cultural sites in the city will remain open to residents and tourists throughout the holiday. In particular, Vietnamese citizens will enjoy free admission on September 2.”
Activities at the Temple of Literature, the Hoa Lo Prison, the Hanoi Museum and other heritage sites will include exhibitions, interactive experiences, cultural exchanges and heritage education programmes.
At the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism, the five-day “Independence Tet” event is taking place from August 29 to September 2.
A highlight of the National Day celebrations will be a fireworks display from 9 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. on September 2 at five locations: in front of the Hanoi Moi newspaper headquarters, in front of Hanoi Post Office, at Dua Island in Thong Nhat Park, at the F1 racetrack in the National Sports Complex, and at Lac Long Quan Flower Garden.
