The Temple of Literature in Hanoi is hosting traditional games, sports, cultural performances, a reading culture and heritage festival, wood-carving activities, night tour experiences, and several exhibitions and workshops.
The Hoa Lo Prison Relic Site will host talks with historical witnesses, reenactments and themed exhibitions while the Hanoi Museum will feature an exhibition on the capital’s master plan with a 100-year vision, a talk on the railway’s wartime history, a photo exhibition about Hanoi, and hands-on activities such as making To he figurines and traditional fans.
The Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism will host a series of activities throughout September, with a highlight being the recreation of a highland market until next Saturday.
Hanoi will also offer free public buses and two urban railway lines during the holiday. On National Day next Wednesday, 17 normally ticketed attractions will be free to visit.
Pham Tuan Long, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that Hanoi has made preparations for the National Day holiday, including decorations, urban improvements, better traffic and cleaner public spaces. "We have also asked local authorities to prepare for the large number of visitors coming to the capital city", he added.
In Can Tho city in the Mekong Delta region, a food week opened on Friday, featuring around 100 stalls selling local food and specialties, along with performances and other activities.
Also on Friday, Ca Mau province opened its first Cultural Heritage and Hot Air Balloon Festival, running until next Wednesday.
