This is the first class of its kind in Ho Chi Minh city. The school will run a pilot with one Grade 11 class and two Grade 10 classes, one lesson per week, and a total of 143 students. The "Don Ca Tai Tu" Club is open to all students, teachers, and parents with club activities every Saturday.
According to the school's principal, Huynh Thanh Phu, the new club and class for "Don Ca Tai Tu", a traditional artform of southern Vietnam, align with the Politburo Resolution No. 71 on breakthroughs in education and training development and Resolution No. 80 on cultural development.
"The art of Don Ca Tai Tu will teach our students passion and the ability to reflect on themselves, and is also a way to help reduce the risks of school violence," Phu said.
The free classes will be taught by master performers and artists from the HCMC Center for the Practice and Training of Traditional Southern Vietnamese Music and HCMC Theater Association.
