According to a Yemeni official, government forces have withdrawn from Mokha and are currently stationed in Dhubab, located nearly 50 km south of the port city. Meanwhile, Tareq Saleh, Vice Chairman of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, stated that government forces had suffered casualties during days of Houthi attacks in Mokha and Taiz province.
The capture of Mokha gives the Houthis control over nearly the entire Yemeni coastline along the Red Sea, making it easier for them to control the Bab al-Mandab Strait. This development occurs amidst escalating clashes between the Houthis and Yemeni government forces, alongside a sharp rise in mutual attacks between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia in recent days.
