The service, branded "Hue Imperial City – Phong Nha: Journey Through Wonders and World Heritage," is designed to become a signature tourism product for central Vietnam while enhancing the use of the North-South railway.
Hoang Xuan Tan, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, said: "Hue is a renowned cultural and tourism hub, with a tourism brand recognized both in Vietnam and internationally. Quang Tri, meanwhile, is known for its historical, spiritual and nature-based tourism, including Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Connecting these two destinations by rail, linking a World Cultural Heritage site with a World Natural Heritage site, is highly appropriate and offers strong potential for sustainable tourism development in the years ahead."
The eight-carriage train will accommodate about 304 passengers on the 190-kilometer route. More than a means of transportation, the railway journey will connect travelers with historical, cultural and natural attractions in Hue, Quang Tri and the UNESCO-listed Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.
The project is also expected to expand regional tourism links and promote sustainable, environmentally friendly rail travel.
