Qalibaf said there will be no return to previous negotiations or reopening of the strategic waterway until Iran's rights are recognized and Washington fulfills its commitments. He said Iran has to both fight and negotiate, using military force to respond to threats and diplomacy to consolidate what he described as gains on the battlefield.
Iran and the US reached a June agreement to end military operations and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. That deal later collapsed amid disputes over its implementation and maritime security arrangements.
Iran's military said it had received information that Washington has decided to resume attacks on Iran with the support of certain other countries in the region. Iran's military command warned that any further US attack will draw a forceful response targeting US forces and interests in the region.
The warning came after President Donald Trump said on Sunday that the conflict with Iran has entered a decisive phase and major developments will follow if Tehran does not change its behavior.
