Iranian media reported multiple explosions across southern Iran, including Bushehr, home to a Russian-built nuclear power plant, as well as the cities of Konarak and Choghadak. Reuters quoted a US official as saying there had been no American strikes in recent hours. It raised doubts about the possibility of Israel attacking Iran.

Israel’s defense minister Israel Katz on Thursday said his country was prepared to resume its military campaign against Iran if needed, vowing to do so “with even greater force”. “The army is ready and on alert for a resumption of fighting, in order to regain air superiority and strike again ... in Iran, to eliminate threats, including a third time if necessary,” he said at a military ceremony.

Reacting to attacks by US forces on July 8-9, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said the latest wave of US strikes constituted “a blatant war crime" and condemned what it called “aggressive actions” by the US military.
