A day earlier Israel carried out airstrikes on the Abu Al Duhur airbase in Syria’s Idlib province. Turkey condemned those strikes as illegal, saying they violated Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“Turkey will resolutely continue to cooperate with the Syrian government on a legitimate basis to establish peace, stability and prosperity in Syria, and will never allow the destabilization of Syria,” the Turkish administration posted on the social media platform X on Wednesday.
Thomas Barrack, US Ambassador to Turkey and Special Envoy for Syria and Iraq, described the Israeli strikes as “an unnecessary escalation”.
“The United States continues to believe that restraint and engagement offer the more constructive course. We encourage all parties to prioritize logical discourse over further military incidents,” Barrack said on X.
