CENTCOM, which oversees US military operations in the Middle East, did not specify how many IS fighters were killed or captured but said the strikes, conducted between February 3 and 12, targeted IS infrastructure and weapons storage facilities.
The US began airstrikes against IS in Syria in 2014 and deployed ground troops two years later to support a US-led international counterterrorism coalition. The primary operational areas for US forces have been Kurdish-controlled regions in northeastern Syria and the Al-Tanf area near the tri-border junction of Syria, Iraq, and Jordan.
But last Wednesday, CENTCOM relocated US troops from the Al-Tanf garrison in southeastern Syria to another facility in Jordan.
Currently, US forces are mainly stationed at the Qasrak base in Hasakah province in northeastern Syria.
