The Lao News Agency (KPL) and Pasaxon, the official newspaper of the LPRP, cited the announcement as saying that NA President Xaysomphone Phomvihane was one of the core leaders of the LPRP Central Committee, a person of great knowledge and capability, with extensive leadership experience across local administrations and multiple sectors.
According to the annoucement, he was an outstanding leader who devoted his entire life, wisdom, and strength to Laos' revolutionary cause, national development, and the well-being and prosperity of the Lao people.
To honour NA President Xaysomphone Phomvihane’s contributions and express deepest condolences over his passing, the LPRP Central Committee, the National Assembly, the Government and the Lao Front for National Development declare a five-day national mourning starting August 9 to 13.
On Sunday, Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Tran Thanh Man led a high-ranking Vietnamese Party and State delegation to Laos to pay respects to Lao National Assembly President Xaysomphone Phomvihane in Vientiane.
