This Buddhist ritual and a special cultural and political event echoed the sound of gratitude and the heartbeat of the nation, honoring the contributions of the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for national independence and freedom.
On Sunday evening, at the Vietnam-Laos Martyrs' Cemetery in Nghe An province, a national-level candle-lighting ceremony was held to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs, commemorating the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27). Attending the ceremony were Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and representatives from central ministries and provincial departments, and the Embassy and provincial youth unions of Laos.
The delegates, along with a large number of youth union members, young people, and citizens, respectfully laid flowers and incense, observed a moment of silence, and simultaneously lit candles of gratitude at each grave.
The organizing committee presented 79 gifts to war invalids, sick soldiers, and families of meritorious individuals. The Skyline youth group donated 100 digital portraits of fallen soldiers, including 27 family representatives who received them directly at the ceremony.
The Vietnam-Laos International Martyrs' Cemetery is the resting place of nearly 11,000 graves of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives on the Laotian battlefield. It is not only a place that honors the youth of these heroes but also an immortal symbol of the unwavering solidarity and fighting spirit between the two nations.
