On Thursday, Lai Chau inaugurated a renovated and upgraded provincial martyrs' cemetery. Party General Secretary and State President To Lam sent a wreath in tribute to the fallen soldiers.
In Dien Bien, the provincial Steering Committee for the Search and Identification of Fallen Soldiers' Remains handed over 668 unidentified remains samples to the Military Institute of Forensic Medicine under the Ministry of National Defense for DNA analysis. This was the province's third batch of samples submitted for identification.
According to the provincial steering committee, authorities have so far exhumed 1,940 graves at four martyrs' cemeteries—Tuan Giao, Tua Chua, Him Lam, and Tong Khao. Of these, 1,822 samples have been sent for forensic DNA testing, while 118 sets of remains could not be sampled due to their condition.
