NATO leaders will gather on Tuesday and Wednesday in the Turkish capital of Ankara.

Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that his administration remains in contact with Russia and Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelenskyi both want the conflict to end, Trump said, adding that he had a "good call" with Putin late last week to discuss a way to move towards peace.

"We're going to be going to NATO, and we're going to be talking about it, and I think we're going to get it," Trump said.

In response to Trump's remarks, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said the conflict in Ukraine could end quickly if Washington bases its approach on its agreement reached with Moscow last August in Alaska.
