The special military flight carrying the samples landed at Gia Lam Airport on Friday afternoon. At an incense-offering ceremony, Political Commissar of the Air Defence-Air Force Service Tran Ngoc Quyen stressed that the search, recovery, and identification of martyrs’ remains is not only an important political task but also a responsibility rooted in Vietnam’s tradition of gratitude and remembrance.
Every set of remains recovered and every martyr’s identity accurately established means another family can welcome their loved one home, another loss can be shared, and another part of the nation’s history can be preserved, he said.
“This mission was not simply a transportation operation, but one carrying profound political and humanitarian significance. We carried it out with the highest sense of responsibility and with a commitment that came from the heart,” said Political Commissar of the Air Defence-Air Force Service Tran Ngoc Quyen.
Following the ceremony, the samples were handed over to the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology for DNA testing and identification.
“We feel deeply honored and proud to take part in this work. We are determined to do our very best,” said Dr. Tran Trung Thanh, Director of the DNA Identification Centre
