Pham Thu Hang on Saturday responded to a question about Vietnam's reaction to the US Trade Representative (USTR)’s May 29 initiation of an investigation under Section 301 of Trade Act 1974 into Vietnam's protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights.

Vietnam's stance, efforts, and results in intellectual property protection and enforcement have been clearly outlined in statements on May 1 and May 14, she said. The USTR's initiation of a Section 301 investigation is a procedure conducted under US law. Related issues will continue to be considered through exchanges and consultations between the two sides during the investigation process. Both sides have maintained close exchanges on this matter and the US side positively acknowledged Vietnam's policies, steps, and measures, according to the spokeswoman.

Vietnam is ready to continue consultations, share information, and clarify policies, regulations, and measures that are being and will be implemented, Hang said. Vietnam requests that the US side objectively and fairly assess and fully acknowledge Vietnam's efforts and tangible results, in a spirit of cooperation and constructive engagement, consistent with the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, for the benefit of the people and businesses, and of both countries in general.
