They explored cooperation opportunities, new business models, and market expansion, which are foundations for their development in the new era.
New Zealand's Minister for Trade and Investment Tood McClay said: "Vietnam has become a true regional success story. This is evident in its recent elevation to an upper-middle income economy and its ambition to become a high-income economy by 2034. New Zealand welcomes and supports that ambition. Vietnam's rapid economic transformation has opened new opportunities for international partnership and investment with the next chapter of growth being driven not only by trade and manufacturing, but increasingly by innovation, technology, skills, research, and productivity. These are areas where New Zealand can be a valued partner."
Vietnam’s General Secretary and President To Lam offered his view: "We should work together to create new growth drivers based on science, technology, innovation, and green transformation. Vietnam is reforming its growth model. We hope New Zealand businesses will consider Vietnam not just a market, but a partner for joint research, product development, manufacturing, and innovation. Vietnam is ready to help New Zealand businesses enter ASEAN markets, and we hope New Zealand can help Vietnamese businesses get more involved in the Pacific region's high-quality value chains."
At the roundtable, Vietnamese and New Zealand's business representatives exchanged cooperation agreements witnessed by Vietnamese Minister of Finance Ngo Van Tuan and Minister McClay.
