Delivering a speech titled “Vietnam-Canada Strategic Partnership in a Volatile World” at Canada’s Parliament on Thursday during his State visit, President Lam said that in a world marked by uncertainty, a relationship built on trust, responsibility, and shared long-term interests is a strategic asset.
He said relations between two countries can only thrive when nurtured by the combined effort of governments, parliaments, local authorities, businesses, and people.
“I believe Vietnam’s new stage of development will create additional opportunities for cooperation with Canada. The decision to elevate bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership during this visit is the result of more than half a century of friendship and cooperation reflecting our shared commitment to investing in the future. This new framework should help our two countries better understand each other, coordinate more effectively, and deliver tangible benefits that businesses and people can truly appreciate,” said Party leader and President To Lam.
Mr. Lam stressed the importance of maintaining regular exchanges and contacts at all levels, particularly between senior leaders. He said science, technology, and innovation should be a pillar of the new Vietnam-Canada relationship.
