The Vietnamese top leader on Thursday chaired a meeting of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness and Negative Phenomena to review the implementation of the Steering Committee’s 2026 work program and conclusions.
Mr. Lam, who also heads the Committee, highlighted the Commitee's efforts to improve institutions and implementation of the documents of the 14th National Party Congress and the Party's Resolution on preventing and combating corruption, wastefulness and negative phenomena.
He noted that efforts to control power, strengthen early oversight, and apply science and technology and digital transformation have been stepped up. He praised the efforts to combat corruption and wastefulness with responsibilities being clearly defined.
Regarding key tasks through the end of this year, Mr. Lam said: “The fight against wastefulness must go beyond money, land and assets to include work efficiency and development opportunities. Power control must be strengthened through data-based oversight and prevention at the source and from an early stage. The Committee must complete the handling of cases and incidents currently under its monitoring and direction, while proactively identifying and addressing violations in critical and key areas. The Central Steering Committee should renew its work agenda and operation methods to improve its performance, especially at the provincial level.”
The Vietnamese top leader urged the Steering Committee to strictly follow the guiding principles that issues which are clear must be addressed immediately, while obstacles must be reported promptly to the competent authorities.
