In the letter, which coincides with the 79th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27), General Secretary and President Lam emphasized that the sacrifices and contributions of previous generations have made the nation's history even more glorious, fostering the character, integrity, and strength of Vietnam.
Gratitude is a time-honored tradition of the Vietnamese people, and the most meaningful way to commemorate those who have contributed and sacrificed is to continue preserving the achievements of the revolution and building a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, civilized, and happy Vietnam, he said.
The General Secretary and President said that paying debts of gratitude must go on through specific support and preferential policies. He also commended the forces currently carrying out the "500-day campaign to intensify the search, collection, and identification of the remains of fallen soldiers."
