"The Islamic Republic of Iran has asked us to continue 'talks.' We have agreed to do so, but the United States has stated to them, in no uncertain terms, that the Cease Fire is OVER!" President Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
However, Iran quickly rejected President Trump's statement. "The Islamic Republic of Iran has made no request for negotiations with the US," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei on Friday.
According to Iranian state media, Baghaei stated that Iran only accepted the visit of Qatari mediators to Iran to discuss the regional situation and maritime security, not to initiate direct talks with Washington.
