China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the meeting between Rubio and Wang "pragmatic, positive, and constructive."
Wang called 2026 a big year for China-US relations, following a historic summit in Beijing where their heads of state set the stage for a constructive China-US relationship of strategic stability. This, he said, was an important step toward the peaceful coexistence of the two powers, serving the fundamental interests of their two peoples and meeting the expectations of the international community.
Beijing and Washington must stay on the track laid out by the two heads of state, overcome interference and obstacles, and turn their consensus into concrete action, Wang said.
