Da Nang ranked sixth on the list of repeat destinations released on Tuesday by travel platform Agoda. The five destinations in Vietnam with the highest rates of repeat international visitors in the reviewed period were Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Hanoi, and Phu Quoc.
Vu Ngoc Lam, Agoda's country director for Vietnam, said Vietnam's continued strong showing among Asia's leading destinations reflects the diversity of its tourism products, ranging from urban tourism in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to beach holidays in Da Nang and ecotourism and mountain experiences in Sa Pa in Lao Cai province.
Data released by the National Statistics Office last Thursday showed that nearly 16 million international visitors arrived in Vietnam in the first eight months of the year, up more than 14% from the same period last year. This was the highest number of international arrivals recorded in the first eight months of any year since Vietnam began keeping tourism statistics.
The number of visitors from Russia showed the strongest growth, up 166% year-on-year, followed by the Philippines (up 58%), Poland (up 51%), and Cambodia (up 41%).
